Gwyl Pentre Coll (Lost Village Festival), Felin Uchaf, Rhoshirwaun 3pm-9pm - Saturday 27 June 2009 |

After the success of last year's Gwyl Pentre Coll, the organisers are proud to announce that the festival is to return to Felin Uchaf, Rhoshirwaun for its second year. The event - translated as 'The Lost Village Festival' - will once again give people of all ages a chance to enjoy contemporary acoustic music in the unique open-air atmosphere and building based on an Iron Age roundhouse. The afternoon/early evening event is already gaining cult status and critical acclaim. Last year 150 people attended what turned out to be a fantastic, alternative day out in the Ll?n area. An impressive line-up of bands has been booked by the two organisers, Dilwyn Llwyd and Gethin Evans, both prominent figures in the Welsh music scene. From the legendary Tecwyn Ifan to local favourite Bob Delyn and from Steve Eaves to Sweet Baboo and Aron Elias, the event will have something for everyone in the area, and should also draw crowds from other parts of Wales. Dilwyn Llwyd said: "When we started organising the festival last year I had a gut feeling that there was room for an alternative acoustic event like Gwyl Pentre Coll where there were no barriers in terms of age or musical taste and was all acoustic. It gave me a real buzz to see so many people coming along on the day, staying all afternoon and into the evening and chilling out to the vibe of it all. It really was a highlight of last summer for me and I can't wait to repeat the success again this year." Gethin Evans, the second half of the team said: "Felin Uchaf is a brilliant venue and is absolutely fantastic on a summer afternoon. There are plenty of non acoustic events being held in the area for certain crowds, so we want to offer families and people of all ages a chance to experience some of the great musical talent we have in Wales at the moment. We hope people will make a day out of it." Dilwyn Llwyd continued: "We just want people to have a great, affordable afternoon - and we are very confident that they will. The music and venue will be fantastic and we look forward to welcoming everybody to Gwyl Pentre Coll again this year."
About Felin Uchaf Felin Uchaf is an Educational Centre for exploring ways of living and working in Creative Partnership, both with each other and with the Environment. Located towards the end of the Ll?n Peninsula, near the village of Rhoshirwaun,
Felin Uchaf is focussed on transforming an old farm house and its surrounding
land into a Working, Healing, Learning Centre. They have a completed construction
of a traditional iron-age roundhouse which will play a key role in the
development of the Centre. Other construction projects on the go include
the creation of timber framed barns for their animals, an earth-mound
observatory, a seed building and a Centre for Living Arts Science. Cool!
